Digital Programmer.

This piece of kit will more than likely to be located in an upstairs cupboard (airing). Usually fitted on the newer installed boilers, great for control of, heating by itself or both the heating system and your hot water.

Motorised Valves.

These are used as a control for the flow of the water from the boiler output, through to the heating and water systems. Pentonville Plumbers fit these valves.

Zone control valves.

If your house can be clearly and easily divided into different zones that can be shut down at various times during the 24-hour period, you will be able to install a zone control valve in your system. The valve can then be set to suit the way in which your household uses the heating throughout the day.

TRVs.

These valves are a good, easy to fit option that allows you to adjust the temperature of individual rooms. The easiest addition to make to your system is to put thermostatic radiator valves in your kitchen and bedroom is, so you can control the temperature in those rooms while the main room thermostat controls the boiler.

Timing programmer.

This is installed to allow you to adjust the time when the central heating and hot water turn on and off. It may have a rotary style clock mechanism, or a digital pushbutton type. Hoxton Plumbers program timers.

Thermostatic control.

One thermostat on its own will not really suffice for a large home. If a downstairs door or an upstairs window is open, the thermostat located in the lounge for instance will not register this. Temperature sensitive valves are a great idea (see TRVs above). Automatically operated central heating controls are really only suitable for use with gas/oil using central heating systems. Coal and coke burning systems can be very lethargic in executing their temperature changes (up or down).
